Stop Copying Me
2018

On August 25, 2018, Chapman Dance presented a 20-minute mini-performance at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.  Inspired by the work of Cary Leibowitz, Stop Copying Me is the first of a trilogy of gallery artist inspired dances to be presented at MATCH in 2021.  Photo by Lynn Lane

 Models For Movement
2016

On September 10th, 2016, Chapman Dance presented a 20-minute preview of Models for Movement at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.   Jae Ko’s exhibit Flo provided the inspiration and backdrop for the choreography for Models for Movement, the first installment of the evening-length performance of Balance.  Photo by Lynn Lane

Sequences 2013

In Sequences, four dancers move between three wood pedestals of varying heights.  Dancing in floor-length hoop skirts designed by James McDaniel, the movement offers a floating effect in quieter moments.  The choreography was inspired  paintings of Lucinda Cobley seen on the walls of Wade Wilson Gallery in Houston.

Navigating the Hallways 2010

Navigating the Hallways is another example of Chapman's love for presenting dance in gallery settings.  Navigating the Hallways was presented at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston in 2010 as part of their Dance for Camera exhibit.  For this performance, Chapman brought together six choreographic artists from Houston, Atlanta, and New York for an evening-length performance that spanned the gallery.
